Birthday and Angel Date Cards

We are here to help....I hope everyone enjoys the ideas that have been shared:

If you would like to share how you reach out to the newly bereaved, please email us.

TCF Atlanta Area Chapters Newsletter has a database of 1300.  Only about 10% of these families attend meetings regularly so our hope is to let them know their children are remembered by sending both birthday and angel date cards.  We purchase blank cards in boxes averaging $0.20 each including envelopes.  We print an insert to attach inside each card personalized with the child's name and special dates.

Some families make donations to sponsor the birthday/angel date cards.  On those cards we attach a label reading:  "This Card Was Donated In Memory of (Child's Name) and we list that child's special dates."  That way both children are remembered...including the family sponsoring the cards.  For a donation of $25.00 they can sponsor 40 cards at appropriately $0.60 each (including postage).

This is healing both to the families receiving the cards and also to those of us who sponsor and create the cards.

Start out with blank cards.  Cut the colored inserts 1/2" smaller than the card.  These cards measure 10" wide and 6.5" in height so I cut the inserts 9.5" and 6".
.

I print on the colored paper.  Using Microsoft Word, I set up a custom page  the same size as the paper....9.5 X 6.  I set up two columns and leave space so that when the cards are folded the text is equally spaced.   On the left side I  have special poems that I include on Birthdays and Angel Dates. I personalize the right side with
In Memory of (Child's Name) and Special Date

I fold the insert in half.

You can see the card is larger than the insert.

Using a glue stick, apply glue on the front folded side in the spots indicated above with the "x" and position inside the card, close the card and press tightly.
Use only a small amount of glue. Do not glue on back side.

You can customize any size or shape card....

You can include personalized poems parents have written

One of our mom's wanted to sponsor a particular Birthday Month In Memory of Her Son. (whose birthday was also in that month).  I remembered she had written a beautiful poem called "Butterfly" and that was the poem I included in the birthday cards that month...In Memory of her Son.

I find a lot of my boxed cards at Sams, Ross, Tuesday Morning, TJ Max, and Marshalls

I hope this will give you some ideas on how to create your personalized cards.
