The Atlanta Chapter of Compassionate Friends

2016 Candlelighting Remembrance Service

Please mark your calendars and plan to join us on Saturday, Dec. 3, for the 2016 Candlelight Service,
an annual tradition of the Atlanta Chapter of The Compassionate Friends.

The program begins at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary of the First Christian Church of Atlanta,
and will be followed by a reception in the Fellowship Hall.

Note: Special music will be played by Gene Watson, beginning shortly after 6:30 p.m.
Please arrive in time to sign in, get your candles and programs and be seated no later than 7 p.m.
This will be a very memorable program honoring our children and siblings.

Parent Speaker - Gale Burgess

Sibling Speaker - Lissa Place

Lissa Place lost her only sibling, Michelle, to suicide in 1996.  She attended national TCF conferences with her parents for years before deciding to join her local chapter here in 2008.  Meeting her husband, Glen, finally gave her the support she needed to go into the deep grief she was carrying for her sister.   In these meetings she slowly learned how to talk about the death and the ways it has affected her.  The support she has found both in TCF and Survivors of Suicide have been instrumental in her getting her life back.  Lissa is originally from Columbus Ohio, where her parents still reside and attend TCF.   She has lived in Atlanta since 1994, and currently lives in East Atlanta Village with her husband, Glen.
