Comfort on the Journey of Grief

Nine short years ago, on a wet spring Sunday morning, we lost our son Julian in an automobile accident.  Our years since then have been a roller coaster ride filled with valleys of despair and mountains of hope.  We’ve learned that GRIEF is the most challenging experience for parents and siblings.  GRIEF journeys into the depths of one’s being; it challenges the meaning of normalcy.  Life becomes a clouded dream, but hope peers through cracks and crevices to help us forge on to find peace and comfort to face the days of tears boldly.  We CAN live again, just with some alterations to the mechanics of the roller coaster we call life.

Lessons from Grief: Surviving the First 12 Months

The grief journey can be especially excruciating during the first year. For the newly bereaved, emotions are raw coupled sometimes with shock and disbelief. Sibling grief has its own unique characteristics, bringing a wave of unfamiliar feelings and responsibilities. You’re now faced with the awareness and courage to accept that someone you expected to live beyond your parents is now gone. Learn the lessons and triumphs from loss that will hopefully help you heal and move forward.
