Directions for taking MARTA to the Marriott Marquis

The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) covers the metro Atlanta area (Fulton and Dekalb counties) with scheduled service to and from the airport. The MARTA entrance is located at the west entrance of the terminal complex, near other ground transportation services. MARTA trains arrive and depart from the airport every 10 minutes. In 15 minutes, a passenger can travel the 10 miles to downtown Atlanta, where connections are available to other parts of the city.

Taking Marta From The Atlanta Airport to the Marriott Marquis Atlanta Hotel
From Baggage Claim, follow the Ground Transportation signs and look for the signs directing you to the MARTA trains. This is the most affordable means of transportation, is quick, safe and you can enter the Marriott Marquis directly from the Peachtree Center Station. Purchase your $2.50/$5.00 +$1.00 breeze card from the machines at the airport MARTA station entrance, go through the turnstile, take the elevator or escalator up to the train and board the next train leaving the airport.  All trains from the airport will pass the N1 Peachtree Center Station. There are open areas at the ends of the cars at the doors if needed to park your luggage or you can just hold on to it.  Stay on the train (approximately 15 minutes) until you reach the 8th stop which is Peachtree Ctr. Station N1 and exit the train here.  This station is underground.
Use the North (direction the train was going) escalators or stairs. Look for the John Portman/Peachtree Street East exit as you take the escalator up and look for signs directing you to the Marriott (sign is small) as you enter the Peachtree Center Complex.  You can reach the hotel lobby without going outside if you follow these signs but if you miss them, don't worry.  Go outside and you will be at the corner of Peachtree and John Portman Ave. The Marriott is just a 3 minute walk. Useful information can be found on this page https://martaguide.com/2010/08/31/marta-to-the-atlanta-marriott-marquis/

When returning to the airport, just reverse the above procedures.   Remember to allow extra time for security checks.

Using MARTA from and to the airport is a breeze if you have luggage with wheels and a handle.  It is our first choice anytime we need to go to the airport for our personal travel and we use it to avoid the hassle of unloading baggage and  finding parking at the airport.
